i'm interested in anyone's experience with ebikes and which models you use? What about electronic shifters, pros and cons? I'd be happy to speak off line if anyone out there has already taken to the "e" side of bicycling. 6108472808

I'll weigh in here with my limited experience...
Rode an Trek E-MTB in Switzerland a few weeks ago. They are all the rage over there. Extremely impressed with the bike and the four (4) levels of assist Went up some significant hills at 20 mph! Rode around for about three (3) hours and it still had a full charge. Downside is that these bikes are heavy, but I suspect that will improve as the batteries become more efficient (smaller). For commuting you can't beat them.

Thanks Bob, I'm looking into road ebikes and found 3 using with the Ebikemotion X35 motor. Carbon frame comes in about 27-29 pounds. My Giant OCR weighs in at 24. Of course that's without a seat pack(and my monster backpack which will stay). I rode one for ~ a mile including a small hill and was pleased and surprised how much the assist really helped. And of course, the assist motor can be turned off completely so if can feel like a real bike ride. I hope to ride a few others soon. I gathered from my research that ebike is definitely more poplualr right now than here in the US especially for a road bike.

Bosch eBike Systems will be at the Philly Bike Expo on Nov. 2-3. There may be more ebikes there but you will have to check the website or contact the organizers. https://phillybikeexpo.com
