Level C+: 12.5-13.5mph, 44.4 miles. Meet at Shady Maple, Market and Smorgasbord. The ride leaves at 10:00 am. Celebrating spring in pretty Lancaster County, exploring a scenic route by Charlie B. This route is a shortened version of the annual Trek to Mount Gretna, leaving from Shady Maple Market in East Earl. Instead of the Jigger Shop (NOT on this version), we visit Fox Meadows Creamery - Ice Cream Expert Charlie prefers this creamery. Scenery includes historic covered bridges and a 2-mile stretch on the Ephrata-Warwick Rail Trail. Options for food stops include the Maple Leaf Bakery at Mile 17, Fox Meadows Creamery at Mile 23, a farmers market at Mile 28, and a pretzel bakery at Mile 32. Terrain is rolling, with a total elevation of 2023 ft, averaging a petty tame 45 ft/mile. CO-LEADERS WELCOME to lead groups at alternative paces, since this leader has recently returned from an injury. START/FINISH: Shady Maple Market & Smorgasbord in on Toddy Drive, off Main St. (PA-23) in East Earl. PA Turnpike (276/76) west to the Morgantown Exit. After Turnpike, take PA 23 West to Shady Maple in East Earl. If you access the Turnpike at Fort Washington/309, it's one hour from there to Shady Maple.
