Does anyone in the club have experience riding after a total hip replacement? I’m scheduled next month and my surgeon says it won’t be a problem by summer. Just come back slowly.

Herb, you and Howard need to chat with Rick Bagshaw [rick1076 at comcast.net]. He got a new hip a few months back and was walking without assists in a week and is already riding his bike.

Good morning Herb,
I am sorry i didnt see this sooner. I had a hip replacement which went great.I was back at the gym 30 days later with a cane, on a stationary bike. I had great suregon, great hospital stay, great pt. I did the MS150 10 months after my surgery. I will be happy to talk with you about my experience if it helps you.

Hi Frank, your reply is very encouraging. My surgery was 30 days ago this week. Walking well, for the most part w/o a cane. Set up a bike trainer in my house and rode it for the first time yesterday. Only 15 minutes with minimal resistance. I'll turn it up a little today. Fortunately, my only discomfort is from muscle and tendon issues. Working to eliminate these. I don't see me doing the MS150, but it is something to aspire to. Thanks again for reaching out. Herb (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.)
